iPad Will Pass 2% of All Internet Usage in 2011

9 December 2010 By

By December of 2011, Apple’s iPad tablet will generate 2.3% of all Internet traffic.  That’s based on the current adoption rate of iPads we’re seeing across the Chitika advertising network.

iPad 2011 Share Projection

As of right now, December, 2010, the iPad accounts for 0.83% of all traffic.  That number has been growing steadily ever since the device’s much-hyped launch, and in recent months has grown from less than 0.7%.  At its current growth rate, it will pass a 2% share of Internet traffic in Q4 of next year.

For the sake of perspective, the iPad is already on par with Linux in terms of Internet usage market share, and is on pace to more than double its presence by the end of 2011.

Thats the great news. But if it has more compatibility means, it can reach upto 10% :)

Flash, for example? It is a good point, and the iPad is going to make things very confusing for people who see “mobile” traffic as just phones with little screens. I do love tablets; techie paradigm shifts are so much fun.

Are other tablets, such as the Samsung Galaxy tab showing any signs of increasing total share and/or reducing growth of the iPad?

  • danielruby

Very little. We’re seeing about 500 impressions from iPads for every one impression from a Galaxy at this point.

unless google releases a blueprint for tablet manufactures on how to build affordable tablets using android I see ipad winning the tablets battle
but it will be interesting to see once HP enters the battlefield with their webos tablet :)
