Android Devices: Evo and Droid Rule, 4G Coming Strong

Top Android Devices: Android Driving 4G Adoption

Across the Chitika network, the top Android device remains the Motorola Droid.  However, the HTC Evo is in a solid second place with nearly 12% of all Android traffic, helping drive Android users’ adoption of the 4G next-generation cellular technology.

Along with the Evo, the Samsung Epic, T-Mobile G2, and MyTouch 4G are leading Google’s mobile operating system into the newest generation of mobile Internet usage.  Summing the traffic of the 4G devices, fully 16% of all Android traffic has the ability to download and surf, and while most are on Sprint’s network, T-Mobile is seeing gains in 4G Android adoption.

Top 20 Android Devices by Traffic

So Droid still owns the Android universe, mostly, but the onset of 4G is making for an entirely new set of rules for Android device makers.

Hmmm… this seems impressive – if it wasn’t all Swedish to me, that is.

  • fritz

what is interesting is there is no sign of nexus one anywhere on this report

  • danielruby

True. Even at its peak, Nexus pulled a fairly small percentage of Android traffic. This time around, it clocked in at 22nd with 0.75% of all traffic through the network. I’ve got high hopes for the Nexus 2 (S?) though – leaked tech specs are impressive, and it’s a fine looking device from the pics that have been snapped of it.

oh 22nd position is not bad since Google didn’t sell many of them in the first place
the interesting thing to look forward to for Nexus 2 is the price when it finally hits the market and Google’s distribution and customer support strategy
But as far as the Asian market goes for smartphones android based phones are winning the race hands down and I wont be surprised if phones based Bada OS picks up the second spot soon

  • danielruby

Interesting point. Will come down to the developers’ base, as always. I’m still pining for WebOS, to be honest; was such a pleasant OS to use. Will be interesting to see how Bada does.

  • Bristolboy

I’m guessing this is US traffic only? I only ask because there is no sign of the HTC Desire which is the most popular Android phone in most of Europe or the Samsung Galaxy S which is similarly very popular (such as in Korea). Also how come the HTC Hero is in the top 20 devices twice?
